Abstract: The objective of the proposed research is to develop a high-density microelectrode array for electrophysilogical recordings, and explore its application in optogenetics and clinical research. A comprehensive survey is conducted on current technologies in neural implants for electrical recording and optogenetics stimulation. We analyze the advantages and disadvantages associated with them and identifies the demand for high-performance neural recording device and the challenges in optical integration. We propose our solution to address the needs in high-density flexible microelectrode array, and simple fabrication of optical integrated flexible device. We also plan to extend the application of polymer-based microelectrode array to clinical research, and develop analytical tool for efficient clinical diagonisis.
