Where does biological diversity come from, how does it evolve, and what processes are responsible for maintaining it?
Despite representing a major goal of modern science, understanding the ecological and evolutionary processes that underlie broad patterns of biological diversity is a notoriously difficult task. My research focuses on investigating the ecological processes which facilitate species coexistence and community assembly, demonstrating how species interactions can drive adaptive divergence, and discuss how contemporary natural selection operates in the wild as a force responsible for maintaining the structure of ecological communities.
