Our orientation resources, events, and programs will prepare you for success as a graduate student.

Spring 2025 Graduate Institute Orientation (GradIO)

In addition to the orientation that your individual program might hold (which you should attend), Graduate Education hosts several orientation sessions prior to the start of classes to introduce you to campuswide resources and policies. New students have two options to attend orientation:

Orientation Sessions (GradIO)

Attend a virtual or in person live orientation session. All sessions are identical and you only need to register for and attend one session. Note - GradIO is geared towards on-campus Atlanta students. Online degree programs will be providing a series of communications to guide and support the transitions to an online student experience.

Session 2In-PersonTuesday, January 711 a.m. Eastern Time

Asynchronous Virtual Orientation

Access an asynchronous virtual orientation via Canvas, Tech's learning management system. Admitted students will be given access to this site in mid-December. Once available, log into Canvas and look for a course titled “Spring 2025: Graduate Institute Orientation (GradIO).”

New Student Programs and Events

GradExpo

Every August we host the GradExpo resource fair to help new graduate students learn about campus services and student organizations.

GT6000

We also coordinate an extended orientation course each fall called "GT6000". If you're a new graduate student looking to meet other students from across campus, this program is perfect for you. Learn from an older graduate student about what it takes to be successful at Tech and get exposure to campus departments who are here to serve your needs.

Grad Welcome and Fall Picnic

Every fall semester, we kick off the year with this lively event. There's dancing, delicious food, music, and spirit items to enjoy. Whether you're here for the food or to make lasting memories, you are welcome to attend this in-person gathering. The event is hosted by the Graduate Student Government Association.
